Lieberman Software President and CEO to be a Featured Speaker at the U.S. Department of Defense Crime Conference 2011
Philip Lieberman to Share Insight on the Challenges of Privileged Identity Management at Leading Government Security Conference
(LOS ANGELES, CA – January 25, 2011) Lieberman Software Corporation today announced that President and CEO Philip Lieberman will speak at the U.S. Department of Defense Cyber Crime Conference 2011, being held January 21-28 in Atlanta.
Lieberman is a recognized security expert and thought leader who is keenly attuned to emerging cyber security issues. He is a trusted advisor to key cyber security committees in the U.S Congress and is routinely called upon by committee staff to review and comment on proposed legislation that is critical to maintaining the safety and security of the country’s IT infrastructure.
The Cyber Crime Conference focuses on all aspects of computer crime and incident response including intrusion investigations, cyber crime law, digital forensics and information assurance. On January 27 Lieberman will present "The Common Credentials Dilemma," examining how identity management impacts the responsibilities of government IT organizations for maintaining and securing vast infrastructures of servers, workstations, mobile systems, databases, firewalls, and network devices.
"The fundamental flaws with most organizational password policies lie in the serious security implications and regulatory compliance violations that occur if the local account password on even one system is compromised," said Lieberman.
"Without frequently generated unique passwords for every privileged account, a user can decrypt one password and gain unrestricted access to every place in the network that uses the same credentials. As the WikiLeaks fiasco shows, the malignant insider is impossible to identify. An organization has to protect itself by ensuring that no one has access to data they don’t need. Federal government agencies in particular need to be constantly aware that former agents and employees familiar with their previous organization’s privileged passwords, as well as current employees and contractors with similar access, pose particular threats," Lieberman said.
For more than 20 years, federal, state and local government organizations, including the U.S. Army and other branches of the U.S. Department of Defense, have relied on Lieberman Software to provide reliable, proven privileged identity management solutions.
