Support and Maintenance

Support and maintenance is available in one, two or three year terms and is required with the initial purchase. We will notify you approximately 90 days prior to the expiration of your support and maintenance term. Renewals are optional.

  • One-year maintenance is 20% of the purchase price.
  • Two-year maintenance is 35% of the purchase price.  (Save 5%)
  • Three-year maintenance is 50% of the purchase price.  (Save 10%)

Service Account Manager Optional Components

The managed system licenses are used to access the core functionality of Service Account Manager. There are additional free modules that can be downloaded and used with Service Account Manager. See the table below. 

Product Requirements Function/Features
SQL Express 2005/2008 Windows XP SP1 / Server 2003 SP2 or later, 256MB RAM, 1GB Free hard disk space. This is a customized version of Microsoft's SQL Server designed for embedded use. SQL Express, or SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 is used to improve the speed and scalability of Service Account Manager.
VNC Password Retrieval (VNCPass) Need a version of VNC Viewer and Server (RealVNC/TightVNC) installed on the same machine as UMPS. Allows for transparent installation, removal, management and usage of VNC on remote systems with or without the knowledge of the current password. Performs remote decryption and access if you are an administrator on remote system.
SMTP Express None. Provides local email server for use by Service Account Manager. This is used when you do not have an SMTP server available for sending reports and alerts from Service Account Manager.


Database Requirements

Service Account Manager collects information about your services that can generate an enormous amount of data. By default, Service Account Manager will use the built-in registry of the operating system to store data and the settings of the program. This option will work for a simple evaluation of Service Account Manager on a small number of systems, however, if you will be performing an in depth evaluation of Service Account Manager or are putting this program into production, you must use an SQL Express or SQL database for your data store.

SQL Express is free but it has significant limitations that cause most users of Service Account Manager to utilize the full Microsoft SQL Server package. There are concurrent connection limits and size database limitations. SQL Express is only recommended for testing situations. If leveraging the NTFS reporting option, SQL Express is not recommended. Switching to SQL Server removes all of the size and complexity limitations and improves performance by orders of magnitude (x10-x100).
