If I had to pick my two favorite features of User Manager Pro, they would be automation, and the ability to reboot workstations. We first bought User Manager Pro because we needed a technology to reboot our workstations. Since then, we've used it for so much more. For example, If we have a patch or upgrade that requires rebooting and we don't want the user to do it and don't want to have to come in on the weekend/spare time, User Manager Pro can get the job done efficiently and effectively. Plus, the ability to automate the process has been a huge factor in expanding productivity.

We needed a utility to take care of two specific problems. We wanted to change local Windows passwords at the same time as we changed our Domain passwords, and we wanted to gain control of our service account logins and passwords. I had been seeing ads for Lieberman Software and thought I would investigate.
I found out I could accomplish the desired result, that a cost management would accept, and the utilities would help improve security compliance. "But User Manager Pro and Service Manager Pro can do so much more', sang the Account Manager. "I've heard that tune before', I said. "I am only interested in the desired result! I haven't got time to explore right now!'
About a month later, my colleague and I had a chance to explore a bit more. "It doesn't really do anything you can't do with Windows", said my colleague. "Of course not", I said. How could any utility make any operating system exceed its capabilities? That's not the point. It makes it easier to do all these mass manipulations from a central interface. I am not sure I actually know how to do all these things in Windows but I am sure I don't want to spend a lot of time scripting it.'
I actually do write a lot of scripts. User Manager Pro helps us execute them. There is a lot of un-tapped potential for us to exploit in this tool set. We don't just use it for workstation passwords. We also use it for managing servers and the workstation class machines which we call "process servers' that software vendors specify.
The most pleasant surprise has been the knowledgeable and helpful sales staff. I actually get contacted and informed when new releases are available and assisted with my questions. Other software vendors are happy taking the maintenance money and leaving you to "go fish.' We have received free training from our Account Manager and I know I can get the technical answers I need, either directly or through technical support.
When evaluating utilities I ask myself, "Is this a better mouse trap?' With Lieberman Software we got a Swiss Army Knife that also catches mice.

I am an NT/2000 administrator of a company with nearly one thousand systems spanning several domains in numerous countries. For security reasons, we have a policy of changing domain account passwords used by server services on a regular basis. We need the ability to easily manage the update of these service accounts from a central location - "Service Account Manager" allows us to do just that.
When I was given the task of managing server accounts, my first problem was determining which machines were functioning as servers (versus workstations); I am primarily concerned with servers. After trying various methods using traditional NT tools, I contacted my Account Executive to see if "Service Account Manager" could help me with this problem. He stated that although the software did not have this capability, he was intrigued by the problem.
My Account Executive spoke with the software development staff, and agreed that this would be a useful feature to add. In less than two weeks, I received a call from my A.E. informing me that this capability had been added to the software. I now have the ability to not only determine which machines I need to manage, but also manage the service accounts easily.
My complements to my A.E. and the entire staff at Lieberman Software for being very responsive to our needs; I wish all software vendors were as pleasant to deal with.
