Company History

Lieberman Software was originally founded in 1978 as a software consultancy.

In 1994, responding to customer requests, the company started building security and migration products to address the needs of the Windows administrator.

Our tools regularly manage millions of workstations per day and provide a unique competitive advantage to our customers through comprehensive system operational information, control, and response for their valuable IT infrastructure.

Customers depend on our products to provide a powerful defense for internal threats and external attacks.

About our Development Process

Lieberman Software Corporation is exclusively U.S. based. All development and support are performed from our Los Angeles, CA facility. We use no foreign outsourcing services.

All technology decisions are keyed to scalability and performance to support target customers of 100,000+ systems.

Our primary development language is C++ using the Microsoft MFC framework; however, we also use other development frameworks such as Boost and STL. For performance and security reasons, all our products are written in native C++ code, not managed code. We use Microsoft SQL Server and MSDE as our primary backend relational database engines.

All products are built as Unicode applications, so that all data is represented natively in the language of the user. All menus and help files are currently available in English only.

Our web based applications provide excellent performance due to their use of COM and COM+ technology (all written in native C++); married to simple and easy to maintain ASP and VbScript. Backend databases are always SQL Server for performance reasons.

For authentication we use Kerberos and NTLM authentication (depending on client capabilities). All sensitive network traffic is encrypted using Microsoft native protection mechanisms (challenge/response, triple-DES, hash comparisons)

For encryption we use a range of solutions from local DES combined with ACLs to AES-256 encryption. Web portal security level (within our products) is dependent on the characteristics of the SSL certificate(s) chosen by the customer.

The encryption technology provided is dependent on the particular product and scenario; however, all products consistently apply security best practices and balance performance, threat level, access complexity, and security to create commercially viable solutions.

Within our products, encryption is used only to protect credentials and not data. Consequently, our products are not required to comply with encryption export regulations pertaining to encryption (i.e. ITARS).

Patents and Intellectual Property

We have a substantial portfolio of internally developed intellectual property as well as patents on many of the features in our products.

We provide all customers with 100% indemnification against any and all patent and intellectual property infringement claims relating to all of our products.
